As a subdivision of the machinery industry, the packaging machinery industry is entering a new growth node driven by downstream consumer goods such as food, beverage and medicine. According to the analysis of relevant personages, "the growth of packaging machinery in the future will mainly be in three fields: upgrading of the original equipment, upgrading of consumption, and the incremental demand of structural changes in products (such as beer bottle making, canned rate increasing, normal temperature milk and low temperature milk rising), and the incremental market brought by mechanized intellectualization of the Baijiu industry."
The growth of domestic consumption expenditure, the increase of human resource cost, large-scale production requirements and the demand for new products and other favorable factors are stimulating the development of domestic packaging machinery market.
According to the data of the National Bureau of statistics, the output of domestic packaging special equipment is gradually increasing: in the first four months of 2021, the output of China's packaging special equipment is 228200 units, with a year-on-year growth of 159.1%. In 2020, the output of special packaging equipment in China will reach 263400 sets, with a year-on-year growth of 25.2%.

According to the relevant survey report, the global packaging equipment market is expected to reach US $60.4 billion in 2023, with an overall annual growth rate of 4.5%, and 55% of the new demand will be concentrated in the Asia Pacific region.
The upstream industries of packaging equipment are steel, mechanical components, electrical components, plastic particles and other industries, while the downstream industries mainly cover food, beverage, medicine, chemical industry, household appliances, mint and banknote printing, machinery manufacturing, warehousing and logistics, building materials, metal manufacturing, paper printing, book publishing, etc.
From the perspective of the concentration of downstream application fields, the top three terminal application fields of global packaging equipment and machinery are food, beverage and medicine. The demand for food and beverage packaging accounts for 56% of the overall demand. In the future, the global food and beverage output is expected to increase by 3.2% every year. Suppliers need new packaging equipment when developing new products.
The structure of domestic packaging equipment terminal application field is similar to that of the global structure. The top three fields are also food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries, accounting for 33%, 21% and 11% respectively. According to the Research Report of China CITIC construction investment securities, the growth rate of fixed investment in the food and beverage industry has entered a rising stage since the bottom in February 2020. The continued growth demand will provide some stable market demand for packaging equipment.
New growth points are emerging in the downstream food, medicine, daily chemical and other industries: first, the structural changes in beer packaging field, such as the new demand brought by the trend of small bottle and canning; Second, the proportion of pasteurized milk in the domestic liquid milk market is low, only about 25%, which is far from Japan, Europe and the United States with more than 80%. In the future, the demand for pasteurized milk filling and packaging equipment will gradually increase; Three, the Baijiu Baijiu is brewing, filling and packing. It is accelerating the automation and intellectualization. This is a new field. The automatic production line of liquor industry is ready to go.
Combing the relevant liquor business announcements, it is found that the major Baijiu enterprises in China have started the new or transformation of intelligent factories. The total amount of planned investment involving the packaging related technical renovation projects has exceeded 40 billion yuan, and the average annual investment in technical renovation in the next 2-3 years is about 6 billion yuan.
The faster the update iteration speed of consumer goods, the faster the update of packaging. "Different from other mechanical equipment, the replacement cycle of packaging equipment is less than the life cycle. Generally, a packaging equipment can be used for about 8 years, but it doesn't take that long. Once the consumer goods are updated, the corresponding packaging equipment should also be updated."
